Empowering NSW entrepreneurs


Easy to do Business is a Service NSW program, it tackles the time, complexity and duplication issues business owners face when starting or growing their business. It aims to cut the red tape so that entrepreneurs can focus on their business rather than bureaucracy.

I was part of the SMS Design team that was engaged to create high fidelity POC’s (Proof of Concepts). Some of the functionality included Call Centre Activation, Payment Gateways and Shared Access / Controls for document versioning, submission and evaluation of applications.

 
 

A multi-agency, multi-level challenge for NSW business growth


NSW Small business can struggle with considerable lengthy government red tape to get up and running. Businesses currently must relate with multiple Agencies and different Councils to get up and running. The existing system is manually heavy, and can deeply vary between agencies, making the whole experience confusing, and ultimately discouraging entrepreneurs from setting up a new businesses. This lengthy and cumbersome process can put a dent onto NSW’s economy growth.

Customer focused design and insight, for focused target demonstrations


The inclusive and highly visual design process enabled the discovery of new Micro Interactions to deliver stages, status and workflow fulfilment to successful multilayered applications. These flows formulated an MVP to help demonstrate multi-form, multi-status application processes, including Self Serve experiences for businesses and Shared Serve experiences for Business Concierges (Administrators).

Towards the digital government of the future


This initiative will allow new businesses in NSW to get up and running in just 90 days; in contrast to existing processes that can take up to 18 months. Service NSW Easy to Do Business program aims at digitising experiences that are cross-agency and go far beyond single visit transactions, representing a giant leap toward automation for the digital government of the future.
